Question

If a husband divorces his wife, in written, three times at one occasion

Then he signs both in Urdu and English. But after a while both husband and wife start living together. So would it be halal or haram? The three divorces at one time are considered as single divorce or three divorces?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You stated that your husband issued three divorces in writing.

The statement, “Me ...... , son of late .........of street ......., in full senses, divorces divorces divorces my wife ........”, constitutes Talaaq e Mughallazah(permanently irrevocable divorce). The implications thereof being that the Nikaah terminated at that point and you cannot live together as husband and wife.[1]

If you wish to reconcile with your ex-husband, it will be necessary for you to marry another person, consummate the marriage and then re-marry your ex-husband in a separate Nikaah.

If your’ll stayed together as husband and wife after that, that is a sin for which your’ll should make Tawba and repent.

Three divorces issued at once are considered as three divorces and not one divorce.
